Celebrating our 20th birthday at the Bombay Sapphire Distillery
By: Hannah Butcher
2018 has been a milestone year here at The Escape; we’ve been celebrating our 20th birthday with all sorts of events and celebrations. Recently we cycled the Tour de Farmhouse for Naomi House and Jacksplace, but we wanted to do something even more strenuous: organise a big party.
That’s how we ended up at the Bombay Sapphire Distillery in Laverstoke on Friday evening with all of our nearest and dearest. Friends and suppliers, clients and colleagues; all were welcomed to the stunning venue to celebrate with us, marking our birthday in style.
Our successes over the past 20 years have been thanks to the strong relationships we’ve built with our clients and suppliers, so it made sense to have all of our favourite people in one room together, even if it meant that Rob was too busy chatting to get a bite to eat.
Lucy, our Account Director, and Ian our Creative Director planned the night to a tee and adorned the distillery with giant balloons, bouquets of flowers and of course, an Escape-branded selfie frame. We’ve received lovely praise from our clients, one commenting on Lucy’s impeccable organisation of the event (thank you, James). This kind of feedback is always welcomed with a smile by the team and we think it’s only right that we plan one every year from now on!
Planning a party is always more complicated than it appears, as you may well know if you’ve hosted a big event, wedding or other large party yourself. But when the night is a total success, it’s well worth all of the hours spent in spreadsheets and making phone calls.
As such, we’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who helped us out on the day, as we couldn’t have done it on our own:

What our guests said
We’d also like to thank our guests for sending us notes, emails and messages on social media after our party. Here’s just a small snapshot of our feedback:
Mark, KJM Group:
“Firstly, congratulations on the 20 years. Secondly, thank you very much for the invite and the kind hospitality shown. Mexican style street food and gin based cocktails certainly “hit the spot” for me and the venue, well say no more.”
Paul, previously of Stopgap:
“Just a quick note to thank you hugely for your excellent hospitality and a fabulous celebration of your 20 years in business at Laverstoke last night. We were honoured to attend and massively enjoyed the evening.”
Alan, Infinity Motorcycles:
“A great night guys. Loved the music and the company.”
Malcolm, Hi-Tech Machinery Ltd:
“We would all like to express our sincere thanks to you, for the really nice evening we spent with you and your team on Friday. The location was superb, as was the entertainment and lengthy conversations with both John and Jacqui. In addition, we all appreciated the excellent food and, of course, the beautiful drinks served by the very talented Bombay Sapphire staff. All in all, it was a most enjoyable celebratory evening. Now, all that remains outstanding, is to offer our congratulations to The Escape for the success and achievements gained over the past twenty years.”
Rob, Cyber Distribution:
“Thanks for inviting me along on Friday, cracking do! 20 years is a great achievement. Here’s to the next 20!”
Jim, London Clancy:
“Just to thank you, Lucy, Tom and all your team for a really excellent evening which we thoroughly enjoyed. The venue is a great choice and I am sure everyone had a really great time. Many congratulations on your 20th.”
Peter, University of Southampton Science Park:
"Very many thanks for the most enjoyable evening last Friday. It was a pleasure to be invited to join you to celebrate 20 years of The Escape. Although we are a relative newcomer to The Escape’s client base, we already feel like one of the family! It was a lovely evening in a great venue."
