Helping to get #millionsmoving


At the start of the year our client Simplyhealth announced that they had become the new headline sponsor of the Great Run Series. It’s a perfect partnership with a shared common purpose of helping people make the most of life through better everyday health. 

When Simpyhealth asked us to be a part of the journey too, we literally jumped at the opportunity. Their striking new partnership needed an online home where they could host all of their Great Run content and engage with consumers and participants of the Great Run Series. 

Simplyhealth’s goal for this partnership is clear and that is to empower millions to get moving and to realise the potential for better health, whether it’s through running, walking, cycling of just being generally more active. 

#millionsmoving was born as the lead campaign and website for the partnership. 



The new online home for #millionsmoving needed to be ready in time for the first event in the series, The Great Edinburgh Run in April so time was of the essence and we’d need to put in some serious personal bests in order to make it happen. We began by getting stuck in to our audience and content mapping sessions to figure out what would make #millionsmoving engaging and relevant for audiences. 

From here we launched into responsive website design, catering for mobile, tablet and desktop viewports. Our audiences on the day of the events will be accessing the website through a mobile device so it was imperative that the user journey and presentation of information was spot on. 

Front end and back end development happened simultaneously on this project such was the tight deadline for launch. The website was developed using all of the latest web technologies. The front end is built using HTML 5 with CSS and the back end on an open source PHP Laravel content management system. 

Content population, imagery and video optimisation and making sure the website was SEO friendly was just part and parcel of ensuring that the website was ready for the starting line in Edinburgh.
