If you are visiting Basingstoke by train we are approximately one and a half miles from the train station. We would suggest:
- First of all, call the office and we should be able to send someone to pick you up.
- Taxi - there is a taxi rank at the front of the Train Station in Basingstoke.
- Last but not least, you could walk.
Walking Directions To The Escape
Exit the train station from the front (main) exit. You will see some shallow steps to a road crossing. At the bottom of these steps, turn left, (walking on the left side of the road) towards Crown Heights (the big yellow building (yes, Yellow!)). This road is called Alencon Link.
As this road goes round to the right after about 100 metres, you will cross over a small entrance to an office car park, and then another 30 metres, you will see a slip road turning left up a hill. This slip road does not connect with Alencon Link but there is a path connection. As you turn left into this path/road there is a pub on the left about 50 metres up the hill called The Castle. Nip in for a quick half if you have the time.
This slip road joins onto the main road Basing View. Stay on the left-hand side of the road, past the bus stop to a small roundabout at the top of the hill. You need to turn left and then cross the road before you go over the impending railway bridge. ie. You are kind of turning left then right to be going straight on.
From this crossing you will see a path that runs parallel in between the railway line and the Basing View Buildings. Follow this path right to the end. It's quite long - about 3-400 metres. If you are early in the morning or at dusk you will see lots of wild rabbits down this stretch of path.
At the end of this path, it breaks into two. Follow the right turn (NOT under the road bridge) which takes you pretty much onto the ring-road at which point you turn left, over the railway, parallel to the road.
This path then turns right over a footbridge (over a slip road off the ring-road) and then gets back to being parallel with the main ring-road.
After about 30 metres, and just before the next bridge, you do a sharp left down a slope, which turns back onto itself and you actually end up walking under the road bridge you were just about to cross.
At the end of this path (approx. 20 metres from under the bridge), you need to cross straight over this road and head onto the road almost opposite - Armstrong Road - you are nearly there.
Follow Armstrong Road for about 2-300 metres until you come to Roentgen Road on your right. Turn right into Roentgen Road, down the slope and on the left after about 80 metres is the Loddon Business Centre.
Ring on the bell for Unit C and demand a chair and a hot cup of something.
