Client brief
The client had a website generating sales enquiries, mainly driven by pay-per-click advertising. The cost per acquisition was increasing steadily with keywords becoming a more expensive to bid for. We then worked on a three-step process.
Phase One - Pay Per Click Advertising
First, we refined the existing pay-per-click campaigns. By making a few adjustments and some keyword research we managed to reduce the website traffic by 75% over the first three months while maintaining the enquiries. This reduced the advertising spend by 68%.
Phase Two - New Website Build
Using our content management system (CMS) as the basis for the new website, a flexible design was created to drive the sales lead, with clear navigation and enquiry forms on every page to allow for ease of contact.
As part of the web build, we also produced a demonstration video for use on the website by editing existing live footage of the product in action, along with graphics and voiceover to make the sales proposition more compelling.
Phase Three - Content Optimisation
With the CMS in place, we then created specific product pages with search engine optimised content to drive natural traffic. This included vertical markets, as well as the product itself.
Result
The client now has a website they can update and add to. This should increase interest from search engines above and beyond the initial optimised content. Although still early days, natural traffic should increase, reducing the need for pay-per-click and creating a much more sustainable online marketing channel.
Meanwhile, the new design and call-to-actions are making the website more engaging. This has resulted in an uplift of enquiries per visitor from 0.86% up to 3.87% within six months.
